The 21st Annual Brookfield Global Relocation Survey 2016 with insights from 163 global companies representing over 11 million employees found that:

83% indicated their first choice candidate’s decision whether or not to accept the assignment was impacted by concerns related to spouse/partner employment;

39% expect the issue of spouse/partner employment as a reason for resisting an assignment to increase.

%

56% of assignments are refused because of family concerns (38%) and spouse career/income (18%)

55% of long term assignees who choose single-status say their choice was affected by concerns related to spouse/partner career

33% identify family related issues as the top reason for a failed assignment

While 49% of partners/spouses were employed prior to assignment…

only 16% of partners/spouses were employed prior and during the assignment
